Welcome to the Oakland Black Firefighters Association. The OBFFA was founded in 1973 with a mission to create opportunities for African American and other minorities in the fire service.  A grass root approach is utilized to recruit individuals interested in becoming professional firefighters.
Â
Today we continue to focus on the mission of creating a more diverse fire service nationwide. This goals is accomplished through collaborative efforts with community-based organizations and The International Association of Black Professional Firefighters. Â We are driven by the I.A.B.F.F statement “All that I am I owe, I live Eternally in the Red”. Â We honor those who came before us by reaching out and helping others. Â Â Â Â Â Â
Â
We look forward to working with both community-based organizations and individuals interested in a fire service career. Â
